Short Courses (1 or 2 days)
March 19,
2009 ($ 220)
In Recent Advances in Viticulture and Enology (RAVE) - A
Focus on Flavor, learn about the development, manipulation and
characterization of flavor components in winegrapes and wine.
Presented by the UC Davis Department of Viticulture and Enology
and the Trellis Alliance, RAVE annually shares the latest in
applied research and fosters communication between industry and
researchers.
After a virtual tour of our new home at the Robert Mondavi
Institute of Wine and Food Science, the morning sessions will
emphasize recent research into the nature and nurture of flavor
compounds in the vineyard. This will include additional new
information on "vegetal" compounds - the pyrazines - and how their
concentrations might be finessed in berries to meet a winery's own
personal style conditions. Researchers will also introduce more
recent data on how viticultural practices impact grape quality.

UC Davis Certificate programs
A
Certificate Program is a series of courses providing in-depth study,
so you can get the most up-to-date skills and information you need
to excel in your chosen field. These professional education programs
provide a minimum of 140 hours (14 units) academic credit. A UC
Davis Extension certificate says you've committed to a deeper
understanding of your industry beyond what a course or workshop
provides. Some certificates prepare you to take accreditation exams
or meet state-mandated requirements for continuing education. Most
certificate programs take approximately two years to complete if you
take one course per quarter. You may take up to five years to
complete your program.
