maximize your summer study experience at UCLA.
Beginning with its lush landscaping, multiple

wonderful place to walk around. When you add to it the thoroughly
modern residential halls, libraries, athletic facilities,
entertainment opportunities, and other amenities, you realize that a
period at UCLA is not only academically rewarding but also a great
place to spend your vacation.
What is the difference between UCLA
Summer Sessions and UCLA Extension? UCLA Summer Sessions offers
regular university-level courses, the same courses taken by UCLA
students during the regular academic year. These courses are
typically taught by UCLA faculty and are usually transferable for
credit to other universities.

Attending UCLA
during the Summer is a practical and enjoyable way to advance your
studies at one of California's leading universities.There are
countless ways to combine your educational pursuits with a great
Summer
experience in Southern california.Through
hundreds of classes and special programs, UCLA Summer Sessions
offers an excellent opportunity to study with world-renowned
professors and highly capable students.
Everything you could possibly need to have an interesting and
fun-filled summer is available on the UCLA campus.
College and university students, high school
graduates, high school students entering grades 10-12, and adult
learners are eligible to attend UCLA Summer Session. If you are
uncertain about the level of difficulty of a particular course,
consult COMING before enrolling to determine whether the course is
appropriate for you.
Enroll beginning March EVERY YEAR . There is no need
to submit transcripts. Registration is completed when all fees are
paid. Registration in Summer Sessions does not constitute admission
to the University.
CORSI
Summer Sessions offers over 500 courses in dozens
of fields. So, you may even want to consider taking an elective
to discover the richness of UCLA's education and the pleasures of
campus.
UCLA courses are generally accepted for transfer credit. Students
outside the UC system should get advanced approval of their courses
from their home institutions. Transfer of credit is at the
discretion of the receiving institution.
SOCIAL PROGRAMME
UCLA Recreation offers a wide scope of recreation
activities ranging from organized team play to a jog around the
campus perimeter. You can practice your favorite sport or learn a
new one. The summer issue of Recreation Quarterly, available at the
John Wooden Center, Sunset Canyon Recreation Center, and other
campus locations, has details. You must show a valid BruinCard to
use UCLA Recreation services.
One of the benefits
of residing in UCLA Housing is that the Office of Residential Life
organizes several optional trips and activities for Summer Sessions
students on weekends and evenings.
Some examples are trips to Disneyland, Magic Mountain, Universal
Studios, Catalina Island, and outlet mall shopping excursions on the
weekends. There are also trips to local attractions such as the
beach, movie nights, baseball games and bowling.
There are also trips scheduled for outside the LA area.
Past trips have included Las Vegas, San Francisco, and the Grand
Canyon. Sign-up sheets and tickets will be available in Rieber Hall,
and all Summer Sessions students are welcome to participate. There
are extra fees for these trips, and transportation is typically
included in those costs.
INSURANCE
What do I need to
know about my health insurance policy?
International students holding F-1 visas must purchase a health
insurance policy through UCLA Summer Sessions. Please be aware that
many U.S. medical institutions do not accept health insurance
policies from other countries and the cost of health care in the
U.S. can be extremely high.
UCLA's health insurance is provided by HealthCare Plus, which is
administered by Hinchcliff International Group Services. The
provider network for this policy is Beech Street Corporation.
Your HealthCare Plus policy entitles you to use outpatient and
emergency room services at the UCLA Medical Center, Cedars Sinai
Medical Center, and the Santa Monica Medical Center.
If you withdraw from Summer Sessions, your health insurance premium
is fully refundable if we receive a written request prior to the
start date of the policy.

Global Discovery English (only in
summer time, age 14-17)
For international high school students, it combines English
language study with a rich variety of activities on the UCLA
campus as well as sightseeing trips.
